THE OPENING OF PARLIAMENT.
WELLINGTON, March 5
The usual date for the opening of Parliament is the 22nd or 23rd oi June, but as the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall will be in the colony from the 11th to the 29th of June it \ not considered advisable for.the legislators to assemble during that period. It is quite possible that Parliarneu wlil be opened at the end of May for the transaction of some necessary business and that both Houses will then be adjourned until the. first week in July. INCREASES TO TEACHERS' SALARIES. For the purpose of federation referendum, the ( voting paper for each adult inmate will be' delivered at every house with the census papers. In submitting- the question "Are you in favor of federation with Australia" with words yes and no. The Cabinet decided that after the separate sums available for each Education board for the increases to teachers salaries is set aside, the board is to be asked to submit to the Minister of Education proposals for further payments to teachers. The sum j allocated for increases is not to - be exceeded so the Premier states..
