(Per Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, December 30. Tha Right Hoik R. J. Seddon was welcomed by a large party of New Zealand residents and visited the camp with the Hon. J. Carroll, Messrs Witheford, Palmer and other legislators, addressed a welcome to the returned troops from the Cape. He found that the Commonwealth contingent had earned golden opinions since their arrival in the colony, but was disappointed at the character of the horses provided.- Had he known earlier he would have sent suitable horses from New Zealand. He recognised, however, the strain placed on New South Wales in providing for all forces.

BRILLIANT GATHERING. There was a brilliant scene at the Hotel Australia to-night, when there was a gathering of the leading lights in the political world. /jif? 1 " Mr Seddon arrived at the hotel during tho evening and was welcomed by Sir W. Lyne, Hon. C. Kingston, Mr, Lewis (Tasmania) Chief Justice, Sir Saul Griffith, Mr Frost (the Cape representative) and other notabilities.

THE PROCESSION. -' In the procession the New Zealanders follow the Imperial 'troops and lead the Australian. All the colonial troops have been placed under the command of Coonel Poie-Penton.
