Charitable Aid Board.

A special meeting of the above body was held last evening at which Messrs Radford (Chairman), Foy, Davey, Moore, Steedinan, McEnteer, and Waltou were present. per statement drawn up and submitted by the secretary. This gave the expenditure as £1933 17s 2d : Charitable Aid (out doer relief) £950; maintenance of destitute children, £295; maintenance of homes, £450; printing, advertising and stationery, £23 17s 2d; refund Ladies' Benevolent Society, £90; -travelling expenses, £25 j and Secretary's salary, £100. The estimated expenditure... over revenue being £1843 17s 2d leaves the sum of £921 18s 7d to be equally contributed by the local bodies under the jurisdiction of the Board and the general Government. Ihe total rateable value of the Thames, Ohinemuri and Coromandel Counties and Borough of Thames is £606,894. An assessment of 35-96ths of a Id in the £ on this sum i»ill produce the amount required from local bodies.
