The Government" have decided to extend the close season for seals another year. The invitation to be represented at the Fisheries' Exhibition in connection with the Imperial Institute, has been declined,
The Midland Railway Company has made another proposal on the lines of the Bill introduced iv 1894, but the Government connot see their way to agree to it. • Ministers approve of the proposal of Cape Colony to recommend all Legislative Councillors who have served 10 years, to retain the title of " honorable " for life.
Judge Williams has suspended the order of discharge of J. Stedman, the well-known bicycle manufacturer, for two years for not keeping proper books.
. The Government approve of the purchase of 320 acres of Parson's property, Kaikoura. Mr Ben Tillett leaves for Auckland on Friday. .He will probably visit Rotorua, and afterwards esconce himself for a couple of months iv some quiet nook for the sake of his health. If sufficiently recovered he will then undertake a lecturing tour through New Zealand.
