Qu Sunday ike 21st Dean Hovoll mentioned a debt on the Cathedral of £1000, and urged the congregation during the week to make an effort to raise £1000 as the interest was a severe drag on the income. Yesterday' morning the church was crowded to hear the result of Dean Hovell's appeal. The Dean appeared with an alms dish piied with cheques, notos, gold, silver, and copper, and announced that over £1200 had been subscribed. There was a visible motion among the congregation! and the «>7hole assemblage rose and sang the doxology with thrilling effect. Siuce Dean Hovell arrived here 1,6 years ago, he has made wonderful improvements in the Church property, and the number of communicants ha 3 [increased from 30 to 700. .
