SUMMARY OF NEWS PER ASSAM.
General Roberta's victory on the 7th of February was a complete one. Three hundred and sixty of the enemy were killed.
The frontier whites are troublesome, especially the Khyberees. It is a difficulty to properly punish them. A band of Lazeens crossed the British territory and plundered a tank. They were pursued and completely cut to pieces. It appears that Russia has dissuaded Shere .Ali against going to St. Petersburg, and all assistance has been refused him.
Before leaving Cabul, Shere AH exaoted an oath of allegiance from Yakoob Khan. The iLohistauees have endeavoured to plunder Cabul, but all is now quiet everywhere, the punishment having had a salutary effect.

At a consultation vigorous prosecution of the war Zulu was proposed, and to send the ludian troops.

General Kauffmannreceived the Afghan Embassy royalty, but refused to support the Afghan cause.
