Money Still Needed Six Districts Behind With Quota A sum of £7Ol/18/3 has still to be raised to fill the Geraldine InterZone patriotic quota for 1945, said the treasurer (Miss L. Waller) yesterday. Districts with amounts still to fill are—Geraldine and environs £571/17/3; Orari £166/19/3, Rangitata £3O/11/-, Rangitata Island £3O/8/3. Peel ForestArundel £lll/14/-, Kakahu-Opuha £2/10/9, Woodbury £29/14/-, HiltonGeraldine Flat £ll5/18/9. Sums raised to date, with the district quota in parentheses, are: —Orari Bridge £152/10/6 (£135/7/3), Orari £167/6/- (£334/5/3), Tripp Settlement £l9l/13/6 (£55/5/-), Rangitata £35/15/(£66/6/-), Rangitata Island £l6/11/(£46/19/3); Peel Forest-Arundel £lO3/15/6 (£215/9/6), Kakahu-Opuha £6l (£63/10/9), Pleasant ValleyTe Moana-Four Peaks £194/7/6 (£l9O/12/3), Woodbury £152/12/6 (£lB2/6/6). A letter urging the necessity of filling this year’s quota to ensure that satisfactory sums are set aside for post-war relief will be forwarded to all district committees by the chairman (Mr D. C. McKechnie). A hope is expressed that all districts will have filled their quota by November 30.
Women’s Institute
The October meeting of the Geraldine Women’s Institute took the form of a flower show. Two new members were welcomed by the president (Mrs Angus Mackay). Sympathy jras expressed with Mrs Scott and "Mrs A. G. Brown, a past president of the Institute. Mrs Mackay and Mrs I. M. Bell were appointed delegates to the half-yearly meeting. Mrs F. W. Grayburn, who is leaving the district, was presented with a box of flowers in appreciation of her work for the Institute. Mrs Knibb and Mrs Bell also paid a tribute to Mrs Grayburn's work. Mrs W. H. Kirk and Miss Rowena Mitchell contributed songs.
Mrs Templer judged the decorative section. Miss Orford the cut flowers, and Miss Logan, assisted by Mrs Mcßean, the needlework. Mrs Kirk and Miss Shirley Watson won the aggregate prizes.
