Patriotic Fund To Receive £25 As a result of the recent competitions which made a profit of £39. the Patriotic Fund will receive £25. being twothirds of the credit balance. This information was given by the secretary of the Timaru Competitions Society (Mr J. Glass) at a meeting of the executive last evening. Rickard reported that the catering had resulted in a loss, but the running of a competition had changed the debit to a credit of about £2. In awarding the cun for the best national dancer, whv was it that a performer who had gained three first and a second was not awarded the trophy? asked Mrs J. Keenan. More than 50 comnetitors had been eligible for the award, and many of them had inquired from her the method by which the judge arrived at the deCl l'° a competitor in the under 10 years class were to win all the firsts in her section it would not follow that that competitor was the best national dancer in the competitions, said Mr D. G. Bruce. Those in the higher age groups would have to be considered. Mrs G Marra said that that particular award had been a bone of contention at other competitions. It was time the matter was clarified in the interest of the 80 odd competitors who took part. It was more than passing strange that the competitor referred to by Mrs Keenan was not considered. On the suggestion of Mr Glass, it was agreed to ask the donor of the cun to allow it to be awarded on aggregate points. After a general discussion concerning the rules, it was decided to enforce the provision of not allowing any interested person to converse with a judge bef<?"" -tnr)n» a competition.
