VIOLENT ACTIVITY
Report From Ruapehu (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON. Oct. 2 Reporting from Ruapehu to-day, Mr A C. Beck, of the Geological Survey Department, states that the mountain is in the most violent activity yet recorded. Ash-laden steam rose to 30 000 feet during the week-end. On Sunday he had a glimpse of the interior of the crater, and saw that the vent had increased in size to about half tne diameter of the crater. There was a great explosion about every three hours. -
