MEDICAL AND DENTAL STUDENTS
More Bursaries to be Awarded
(N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 28. It was the intention of the Government to award furthex- medical and dental bursaries in 1946, said the Minister of Health to-day. Applications closing on January 28, 1946, will be called for by advertisement next December and will be received from two classes of students: (1) Those who have completed the medical intermediate examination and who are about to enter ox- who have completed one or more years at a medical or dental school; (2) those students who are about to commence the first year of a course leading up to the medical intermediate examination.
Students applying for bursaries will be required to submit full details of theix- academic standard in the first group. Evidence will be required of the fact that the student has passed the medical intermediate examination. Within the second group, applications will be open to all students who have attained the minimum standard of the University Entrance, and who are eligible to be enrolled as medical students in the University of New Zealand. The academic and other qualifications of applicants will be taken into consideration in determining selection for the award of bm-saries. As in the past the bursary will be available for a minimum period of five years, and will be of the value of £7O a year, with boarding allowance of £4O a yeax- where the student is obliged to live away from his home.
