WAR GRATUITY
Details Available Soon (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 28. Details of war gratuity proposals are being worked out and should be announced at an early date, said the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, in the House of Representatives today. Answering an urgent question, Mr Nash said the proposed arrangements would be in accord with the statement in the Budget, and would provide for payments to be - invested and spread ovex- a short period of years. On the application of servicemen, special consideration would also be given to the allocation of any of the grants made for the purchase of farms, businesses, homes, furniture, etc., and for the repayment of loans raised by servicemen fox- these purposes. The questioner, Mr A. S. Sutherland (Government, Hauraki) had said that the early payment of the gratuity would assist ex-servicemen in their financial arrangements.
