Infuser scr DOOMBEN CUP Sensational Race (6.30 p.m.) BRISBANE. July 22. After his head defeat in the Doomben Newmarket last Saturday, Repshot yesterday won the Doomben Cup after a series of incidents which made the race one of the most sensational ever held in Brisbane. The pre-post favourite, .Brumond, was nearly thrown over the rails at file half-mile post. The horse received a gash on the offside flank and the jockey, D. Long, had his boot almost torn off and his toes severely lacerated. Before the race the saddles of the jockeys were searched by the stewards for batteries. Two runners were injured in a float smash and were unable to start. Before the Cup was run the trainer of Brumond. C. Doyle, told the stewards he had received warnings that an attempt would be made to prevent his horse from winning. Repshot, who started favourite, never looked like losing the race, and won with a lot in hand. The result was:— Repshot, 8.7 (Morgan) 1. Harvest 7.6 (Sellwood) 2, Blue Nose 7.5 (Murphy) 3 Fifteen started. Four lengths, length and a half. Time—2mln Msec.
