DRAKE CUP CONTEST On Saturday conditions for the Drake Handicap Cup race over the On Walker junior course of four miles were against good limes. The competitors found the going heavy, particularly over a ploughed field, and further on they had to run over snow-covered country. D. Adams was not available to defend the cup. The limit runners, G. Phillips and W. McConnochie, off 7min 15 sec, were overhauled by J. Day on Gmin 45sec who heid the lead through Springs. Coming on to the Old North Road he was passed by A. Cotterill and A. Dellow, off 3min 30sec. who were both running particularly well. Going down Jellicoe Road Cotterill established a good lead and went on to win easily from J. farmer <3min» with A. Dellow 7 third. The medal for fastest time went to R. Ramsay toff 30sec> who ran an excellent race. K. Hitchcock, who gained second fastest time, was only 164 sec behind Ramsav. At the close of the race the competitors and officials were entertained by Mr and Mrs V. Drake. Occasion was taken to welcome home Archie Harper.
