Repairs to Bombed Houses Sir Trustrum Eve, who is in charge of repairs to Britain’s bombed houses, has given the first figures for progress made. He said that 258,849 houses had already been made habitable for the winter. There were 132,000 men now on repair work. New British-Ethiopan Agreement The Foreign Secretary ■ (Mr R. A. Eden) has announced that a new Ethiopian agreement, replacing that of January 1, 1942. was signed at Addis Ababa on Tuesday by the Ethiooian Prime Minister and Lord de la Warr on behalf of the British Government. The text will be laid before Parliament as soon as possible. History Made After 33 years' service, 17 as a lower reck rating, Commander Reginald Horace Johnson, DS C., of Weymouth, has made history in the Royal Navy. He has been promoted to the acting rank of captain, being the first man to reach that rank on the active list after serving the full period as a warrant officer. He is 49. Commander of the minelayer Plover for four years in the present war, he has now been appointed to command a large repair ship. He was decorated in June, 1940.
