FLAXMILL WORKERS
Release From Camp (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 11. The Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) stated to-day that in order to supply essential labour for the flaxmilling industry the War Cabinet has approved the release of suitable soldiers who volunteer for flaxmilling work. Practically all classes of flaxmill workers are required for the industry and men offering for the work will be released after the consideration of each case by the unit commander concerned and the district manpower officer. Mr Jones said that in view of the great importance of this industry it was hoped that experienced men would volunteer for the work. The release from military duties would be subject to the interests of the unit in which the man Is serving.
