DOMAIN SHOP DAY

A women’s committee for the shop day to be held for Domain funds on March 10 was organised at a meeting in the Council Chambers on Monday evening. The Mayoress (Mrs W. H. McMillan) presided. "Temuka is justly proud of its Domain, which is one of the best for the size of the town in New Zealand,” said Mrs McMillan. “To keep up this standard more income is required than the Domain Board receives, even when liberally assisted by the Temuka Borough Council. This year a special effort is to be made to do the necessary work of top-dressing and repairing the paths, whlcn will entail an expenditure of more than £lOO. The object is a worthy one and a liberal response may be confidently expected not only from the residents of the borough but also from the surrounding districts." Mrs W. L. Harrison acted as secretary and the necessary stalls were allotted as follows: Produce stall: Mesdames Foxon, Levens, Martin, Scott and Thistleton. Cake stall: Mesdames Cain and Davis with the Temuka Ladies’ Bowling Club. Needlework and bran tub: Mesdames Blackmore, Clark, Frisby. Hill.
