GERALDINE AMBULANCE FOR DISTRICT
Sum Of £l5O Needed Immediately Stretcher-Bearers Required For Emergency The possibility of obtaining a wellntted ambulance to serve as a free ambulance in the area was discussed at a meeting of the Geraldine Brigade 2* the st - John Ambulance Association. Officer L. Bennington presided. An ambulance appeal committee was set up to go into ways and means of raising the sum of £l5O required immediately. Officer Bennington explained that the ambulance was under offer for first refusal by Geraldine, and the machine was in excellent condition. It was suggested that the ambulance should be free for conveying patients to the Geraldine and Timaru Hospitals. A syllabus was drawn out for the year, and it was decided that Dr. G. W. Curtis should give a lecture each month so that all members would be efficiently trained to help in an emergency. It was agreed to register 12 men as stretcher-bearers attached to the brigade for emergency precaution work. New members who have just received their St. John Ambulance certificates were formally enrolled in the brigade.
