building should begin soon There has been a delay in commencing work on the State houses which will be erected at Geraldine, but if satisfactory tenders are received a start should be made with building operations in the near future. In reply to an inquiry made by the Mayor (Mr D. C. Mckechnie) concerning the erection of State rental houses in Geraldine, the Minister of Housing (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) has advised that contracts are now being advertised for Geraldine, the tenders closing on February 25. “If satisfactory prices are obtained," says the letter from Mr Armstrong, “you may rest assured that every endeavour will be made to assist the contractors to expedite the construction of the houses.’’
