PURCHASE OF SHIPS
Australian Visits U.S.A. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 25. For the second time in recent months. Sir Walter Carpenter, manag-ing-director, of the Australian trading firm of W. R. Carpenter and Coy., Ltd., passed through Auckland on his way to the United States to buy ships. He said his mission had been caused by the added needs for shipping space brought about by the war, and he hoped he would be able to meet his requirements in America. On his last visit a few months ago he purchaser two freighters for trading betweer Australia and the United States.
