Australia May Be In Japanese Plan By Telegraph -Press Association-Copyright (Received November 22, 10.30 a.m.) TOKIO, November 21. “Kokumin” urged Prince Konoye to frustrate the influence of the “status quo maintenance faction” in Japanese political and financial circles. Asserting that the status quo faction was ! attempting to regain power in political and economic fields, it said: “What we consider unpardonable is the rise of the pro-American faction.” “Sinshu Pao,” in an editorial on the scope of the tripartite agreement said that it envisages the stabilisation of Europe, Africa, the Far East “and Australia.” This is the first time the official organs of Japan and China have openly included Australia by name within the framework of Japan’s southward expansion programme.
