FEW RAIDERS
Easing In Air Attacks By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received November 23, 12.5 a.m.) LONDON, November 21. The Air Ministry states: “A few raiders approached Britain during daylight. Bombs fell in East Anglia, the Home Counties, and in a town in south England. Damage was not extensive and casualties were not numerous. A small number was killed. One enemy bomber was destroyed and one of our fighters was lost. The losses apparently occurred after the Spitfires turned back a Heinkel during the afternoon. The Spitfire rammed the Heinkel, tearing off the wing. Both crashed near Faversham, all the members of the crews being killed. Firemen were running to put out the flames when a bomb exploded killing a fireman and fatally injuring another. Eight bombs in an East Anglian town killed a woman and injured four. A bomb hit an institution, killing the master and some inmates.” A bomb which fell on a private shelter in the London area wiped out a family of four, comprising the parents and their two daughters. Mr Edward Robinson, who served with Lawrence of Arabia in the last war, lost three brothers and one sister when a bomb demolished a house on November 15. Two of his sisters-in-law also were killed, and a sister and two aunts were seriously injured. Mr Robinson went on duty normally after the tragedy, of which his colleagues learned only to-day. Several hundred incendiary bombs were dropped on a south-eastern village early this morning, lighting up the district. The villagers, despite the raiders being overhead and falling shrapnel from the anti-aircraft guns, turned out with A.R.P. workers and restored the black-out in under an hour. There was only one casualty.
