HELP RUSHED TO GREECE

Britain Doing All Possible By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Rec. November 22, 11 p.m.) LONDON, November 21. The Cairo correspondent of “The Times” says that help is being rushed to Greece on an increasing three point programme. (1) British sailors and airmen are in action on a scattered front from Crete through the Pindus mountains to the heel of Italy. (2) Coal, oil, food, guns and ammunition are being despatched daily across the Mediterranean, thus far without Italian interference. (3) Offensive operations are being pushed on against the Dodecanese, East Africa and in the western desert. A spokesman at headquarters in Cairo said: “We are sending every ’plane, gun and bullet that can be spared. It is fully realised that time is short and it may not be long before the Axis tide sets in against the Greeks, although they have staggered the military authorities already with their successes.” British bases in Egypt, Palestine and the Sudan have not been weakened as a result of aiding Greece. Turkey has decided to give Greece all possible economic assistance. Facilities are being arranged quickly for the export to Greece of commodities she requires, but for which she is unable to pay immediately. In addition to dried vegetables and livestock, Turkey is supplying Greece with cereals, coal and other commodities. Egyptian Co-operation The Cairo correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says that Sirry Bey (Prime Minister) interviewed stated: “Egypt has a treaty with Britain and will stick to it. I will follow closely the lines that Hassan Sabry Pasha laid down. Anglo-Egyptian co-oper-atlon is of the closest and most cordial. I have known Sir M. W. Lampson (British Ambassador), since the day of his arrival. We are working together in a most friendly spirit.” He added that the bombing of Taranto had considerably raised Egyptian spirits.
