The weather was perfect and the course in excellent order for the final day of the A.J.C. meeting. There was an attendance of 30,000 persons. The racing was below standard by reasons of the poor fields and the transference to Melbourne of the champions, particularly the New Zealanders. Results; CANONBURY STAKES Of £500; 5 furlongs. WAVERLEY HANDICAP Of £500; IS miles. Hope, 8.7 (Briscoe)l Highborn, 6.8 (Podmore)2 Yours Truly, 7.11 (Thompson) .. ..3 All started. Won by a neck, a length and a half between second and third. Time—2min 57sec. CHESTER HANDICAP Of £500; 6 furlongs. Fly, 8.5 (Dark)l Overbold, 8.6 (Munro)2 Red Thespian, 9.8 (Thompson) .. ..3 Fourteen started. Won by three lengths, half a head between second and third. Time—lmin msec. RANDWICK PLATE Of £1000; w.f.a.; 2 miles. Dashing Cavalier, 9.0 (Coutts) .. ..1 Old Rowley, 9.4 (Munro)2 Mosaic, 9.6 (Webster) 3 All started. Won by two and a half lengths, three-quarters of a length between second and third. Time—3min 24Ssec. CLIBBORN STAKES Of £500; 1 mile. Ensign, 9.0 (McMenamin)l Pinero, 8.7 (Thompson)2 Flying Knight, 9.0 (Munro)3 Six started. Won by three lengths, a length between second and third. Time—lmin 36sec. FINAL HANDICAP Of £600; 11 miles. St. Constant, 9.6 (Munro) 1 Lord Valentine, 7.12 (Parsons) .. .. 2 Bel Oiseau, 7.3 (Thompson)3 Nine started. Won by two and a half lengths, a length between second and third. Time—2min 4sec. Although T. Webster said that Mosaic’s failure was due to serious interference by Dashing Cavalier, the stable connections express the opinion that It was more likely due to a painful eye injury received in last Monday's Metropolitan when he was struck by a flying clod. Webster thinks Mosaic will win the Melbourne Cup. He has got the mount on Reading in that race. Dashing Cavalier is being reserved for the Melbourne Cup. Beaulivre is to start in the Caulfield Cup.
