King Inspects Troops Showing no signs of his recent indisposition, his Majesty inspected the Southern Command for the first time since the outbreak of war. He also visited the Westland Lysander Army Co-operation aeroplane factory.
Officers for N.Z. Air tore. Members of the New Zealand Air Force, Squadron-Leader R. J. Cohen and Flight-Lieutenants A. B. Greenaway and L. C. Morrison are coming to New Zealand In connection with the Empire air training sc. erne.
Front Members Indicted A message from New York states that 17 members of the Christian Front were Indicted before the Federal Grand Jury on charges of seditious conspiracy to commit offences against the Government.
Price Complaint in House Replying in the House of Commons to allegations that controlled prices of yarns and cloths were 60 to 100 per cent higher, the Minister of Supply (Dr. E. L. Burgin) said: I am not prepared to extend control of the prices of wool. Any action necessary regarding the prices of yarns and fabrics should be taken under legislation concerning the prices of goods in general.
Frontier To Be Cleared Canada and the United States have jointly begun to clear the frontier, especially in heavily forested areas where vista demarcation is difficult, in order to prevent the entry of spies and saboteurs, while Canada has increased patrol. Congress has approved funds for the clearance of the forest in Maine.
Bids For American Ships A message from Washington states that five companies submitted blds to purchase 12 ships in the Australian and Far East service. The blds ranged from 76,000 dollars to 160,000 dollars a ship.
