WAITUNA
“How would you like to spend Christmas” the roll call at the Waitune Women’s Institute brought forth various replies, but the general wish was to spend it at home quietly. Mrs W. P. Wilson, president, welcomed members and friends and thanked all who had helped to make the Birthday Party a success. The members’ session proved very interesting, a demonstration of covering coat hangers was given and recipes for jam, mock almond icing, French polish and black currant drink were handed round. The following were the prizewinners:—Christmas gift not costing more than 1/-, Mrs Grant; shortbread, Mrs W. Ross; specified bloom. Mrs J. L. Smith 1, Mrs Jackson 2. Mrs Wilson; decorative, Mrs J. L. Smith 1, Mrs Jackson 2; best bloom, Mrs Jackson 1, Mrs J. L. Smith 2.
