ANNUAL DINNER

TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL OLD STUDENTS The fourth annual dinner of the Timaru Technical High School Old Students’ Association was held in the Stafford. The Principal (Mr F. L. N. Tuck) and Mrs Tuck, and the chairman of the Board of Managers (Mr P. R. Talbot) and Mrs Talbot were the guests of the Association, and members of the staff and the school prefects were also present. The president of the Association (Mr B. T. Cox) extended a welcome to those present, particularly the new members, and expressed a hope that those who were not yet members would soon join up.

The following toasts were honoured—“The King,” proposed by the president; “The School and Staff,” proposed by Mr Allan Smith; “The Board of Managers,” proposed by Miss V. Burrow; and “Affiliated Clubs,” proposed by Mr G. H. Andrews. Replies were made by Mr F. L. N. Tuck, Mr P. R. Talbot, Miss Muriel « Henderson (Basketball Club) and Mr B. T. Cox (Tennis Club). A short musical programme consisted of songs by Misses Muriel Smith, Maitel Marsden and Vera Burrow, while Miss Dorothy Lyne contributed a tap dance. Dancing followed tile conclusion of the dinner. Amongst those present were: The president (Mr T. B. Cox), Mr and Mrs F. L. N. Tuck, Mr and Mrs P. R. Talbot, Mr and Mrs H. G. Carter; Misses H. Couper, Vera Burrow, Muriel Smith, Muriel Henderson, Linsey Mills, Maitel Marsden, Lurlene Wilson, Doreen Stocker, Lola Cuddihy, Violet Brehaut, Beatrice Brehaut, Freda Burrow, Daphne Bayliss, Dorothy Davey, Doris Wisely, Violet Smith, Isabel Crabb, Daphne Whittleston, Nancy Budd, Phyllis Smith, Margaret Fahey, Jean Talbot, Molly Borman, May Milne.
