FAIRIIE DISCUSSION HELD OVER
Position of Citizens’ Association Lack of Interest in Activities Lack of interest in the activities of the Fairlie Citizens' Association was deplored by members of the Association who attended the bi-monthly meeting on Tuesday night. There were not sufficient members present te open discussion on matters placed on the agenda paper, which included the proposal to establish a camping ground for Fairlie, a morgue, and consideration of correspondence relating to the Fairlie Post Office.
Author of many important works in the town, the Fairlie Citizens’ Association has, since its formation, been well supported, but the last two meeting have not attracted large attendances of members. Statements made by members vvhb attended the meeting on Tuesday night indicated that the Association's work is by no means finished, but the opinion was expressed that the frequent rebuffs to suggestions put forward had had a discouraging effect on members.
The next meeting will be held in July, and this will be the annual meeting. An effort is to be made to encourage citizens to attend in good numbers. Consideration of correspondence and other matters on the agenda, was held over until the next meeting.
