WAIMATE CLUB The following were the principal scores at the weekly shoot of the Waimate Miniature Rifle Club: A. Dunnill 80; J. McKenzie, T. Cochrane, A. Kernick 79; A. Guy, C. Corsbie, R. Cameron 78; D. Marsh 77; J. Anicich, S. Dench, A. Duncan. E. Warren, W. Hill 76; G. Dench, H. Spencer. R. Don 75; G. Law, 74; Mrs Dunlop, A. Dolphin, N. McKenzie, J. Clarke 73; J. Falloon. J. Dunlop 71; W. Murphy 69; K. Bell 68; J. Hughes, E. C. Attewell 66; Miss V. Trezise 64; D. Mahan 61; M. Stevens 58. Ten men average 78. The silver button was won by A. Dunnill and Mr Linton Mann's No. 2 trophy by Mr E. Warren. SOCIAL AT GRAY’S CORNER There was a fair attendance at the fertnightly euchre and dance held by the Gray’s Corner School Committee. The chairman, Mr O’Hara, presented prizes as follows: Women, Mrs Nelmes 11, Miss Naomi Squire 2. Men, Mr John O’Hara, Scnr. 1, Mr Alex Myers 2. Mr Brohan supplied dance music and Mr Gordon Stewart was master of ceremonies. ODDFELLOWS’ LODGE The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Waimate Lodge 1.0.0. F.. No. 80, was held in the Orange Hall on Monday night. Bro. J. W. Hunter, N.G., presided over a good attendance of brethren. One brothel- was reported to be on the sick list and one brother had been on and off the funds since the last meeting night. Sick pay of £2 and general accounts for £l9 were passed for payment. Bro. Crowe, if Star of Waikiwi Lodge, Invercargill, was welcomed and brought fraternal greetings from Invercargill. After the Lodge meeting closed a degree meeting was held. PERSONAL Miss Sheila O'Malley, who has been visiting Waimate, has returned to her
duties on the nursing staff of the Seacliff Mental Hospital. Mrs N. Geaney and Mr J. Geaney, Belle Vue, Makikihi, have returned from a holiday visit to Australia. Miss Frances McVean, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs G. Reid, Waituna, left for Australia yesterday.
