Tournament Nearing Close

Yesterday’s Play The South Canterbury Croquet Association’s annual tournament was continued yesterday under ideal weather conditions. Some very good play was witnessed at bath the Timaru and Ashbury lawns in spite of the tricky greens, the B grade play being outstanding. All events will be completed to-day and the presentation*' of prizes will take place on Monday at 3 p.m. Results:— Open Championship Mrs Kirk beat Mrs Henry, 26-20, 26-12. Mrs Kirk beat Mrs Cowper, 26-0, 26-7. W. H. Kirk and Mrs Kirk will meet in the final of this event this afternoon on Ashbury lawns. Women’s Championship The runner-up for the women's championship proved to be Mrs Patchett, who beat Mrs Henry 26-23. B GRADE Championship Singles First Life, Second Round Mrs Stockdale beat Mrs O’Neil, 26-25. Third Round Mrs Syme beat Mrs Edyvean, 26-22. Mrs Murray beat Mrs Derritt, 26-8. Mrs Jones beat Mrs Stockdale, 26-25. Mrs Turnbull beat Mrs Holden, 26-17. Semi-Final, First Life Mrs Murray beat Mrs Syme, 26-8. Second Life, Second Round Mrs Jones won by default.
