GERALDINE DAFFODIL SHOW

Glorious Display of Blooms Judge’s High Praise “I have not seen a previous show with such good quality displayed,” remarked Mr G. W. Coombs, the judge of the daffodil section, when commenting on the display at the Geraldine Horticultural Society’s daffodil show at the Parish Hall yesterday. Mr Coombs, who won all the champion bloom classes last year withdrew this show and exhibited 40 varieties of daffodils. “I have not seen a previous show with such good quality and freshness, and the exhibits in such excellent condition,” said Mr Coombs. There was no sign of damage by weather, he added. Tire flowering shrubs and the decorative section were very fine indeed, and the anemones were magnificent blooms with marvellous colour. In the daffodil section, the champion of champions, Honey Boy was the best bloom he had seen of its variety, During the afternoon and evening sessions there was large attendances and the novelty plant stall conducted by the president (Mrs W. ANOTHER FIRE RUBBISH HEAP ABLAZE A large rubbish fire which had been left burning in the Little Park at Geraldine was the cause of the Geraldine Volunteer Fire Brigade turning out shortly after 11 p.m, on Tuesday.
