LICENSING LAW
AMENDMENT ADVOCATED By Telegraph—Press Association INVERCARGILL, July 13. Claiming that the greatest enemies to temperance in Invercargill were the prohititionists themselves, Mr M. H. Mitchell spoke at length on his notice of motion at to-night's meeting ot the executive of the Southland Progress League urgtag the provision of up-to-date hotels with all modem conveniences m Invercargill. The motion also sought an expression of opinion from the League that money spent in advertising Southland would be largely wasted until suitable accommodation was provided. The foregoing part of the motion, which was presented in two parts, was carried. The second part was replaced by an amendment by Dr. J. A. Pottinge:- “that In the opinion of the League the licensing legislation of this Dominion stands in urgent need of
reform.” This amendment found the unanimous support of the meeting.
