ARSON CHARGE
ACCUSED REMANDED By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, January 6. “I would ask that bail be substantial as the threat was given before the attempt was made,” said DetectiveSergeant T. E. Holmes, when an application for a remand was made in the Magistrate’s Court this morning when William Henry Fagan appeared. Fagan, a labourer, aged 30, was charg ■ ed that on January 4, at Yaldhurst, he wilfully attempted to set fire to a dwelling house, the property of John Robert McKenzie, 483 Yaldhurst Road. Bail was fixed at £3OO, with one surety of £3OO, and Fagan was ordered to report daily to the police by the Magistrate, Mr E. C. Levvey. A remand to January 13 was granted.
Mr J. K. Moloney appeared for Fagan.
