KEEN DEMAND
HOUSING SHORTAGE By Telegraph.—Press Association AUCKLAND, January C. The number of applicants in Auckland alone for State houses exceed 2200, which indicates the housing hunger in this city. It is estimated that at least four new houses a day are required to cope with the demand. New applications for State houses number more than 20 weekly. There is little prospect of more than one house daily being available during the next three months, and even then it is unlikely that the number of State houses will increase to much more than a dozen weekly.
