Members of the Timaru Borough Council at a meeting last night expressed sympathy with Mr John Hole, a former Mayor, in the recent death of his wife.
Mr J. L. L. Wood, of the Invercargill office of the Pensions Department, has received advice of his transfer to the District Office at Wellington. He will be sureeeded by Mr N. A. Challis, of Dunedin. The Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, arrived at Auckland yesterday morning and was engaged, in departmental business throughout the day He expects to return south by the express to-night.
