The Moscow correspondent of “The Manchester” states that the former Prince Michitsky, a well-known zoologist, and 'irector in charge of feeding the zoo animals, was dismissed owing to many deaths among the animals. Nails were discovered in the bread given to guinea hens; strychnine in the badgers’ food, while veterinarian treatment was hindered by the director who endeavoured to attract spectators by ballet dances and the broadcasting of jazz, which terrified the animals, while in order to raise funds, he slaughtered bears and water buffaloes and sold the meat cheaply to zoo attendants.
