RUGBY TESTS

MATCHES IN GREAT BRITAIN New Zealand and South Africa have each sent three Rugby teams to Great Britain, and Australia has sent two. Perhaps the greatest of all these were the first All Blacks in 1905-6. On their three tours collectively, the South Africans appear to have risen to heights at least as elevated as the All Blacks, notwithstanding that the 1924 New Zealanders were undefeated. The last team from the Dominion was not so powerful as the others. The Springboks have a better record in international matches against Homeland teams than the All Blacks. They played 12 matches, to win 10. draw one and lose one. The New Zealanders had 11 matches, to lose three and win eight. The Australians on their two tours won and lost three Internationals.

The Springboks’ only test defeat was inflicted by Scotland on Paul Roos’ men in 1906 by 6 points to 0, although they drew the same year with England. They defeated Wales and Ireland in every test.

Tests in Great Britain have resulted as follows:

Matches W. L. D. F. A. Springboks . 12 10 1 1 105 32 All Blacks . 11 8 3 0 133 69 Australians 6 3 3 0 54 51
