HARRIS CUP
GERALDINE IN THE LEAD After Saturday’s matches, Geraldine are leading in the Harris Cup competition by two points from Celtic and Star. Geraldine had an easy passage in the last series, winning by default from Old Boys, who were unable to field a team. Celtic and Star provided a ragged but interesting game on No. 2 ground at Fraser Park, Star winning by seven points to four. Each side scored a potted goal, Star’s margin being a try scored in the second spell. It was Celtic’s first defeat in the series. Temuka defeated Zingari comfortably by 28 points to four.
Two more series of matches are to be played—on July 31 and on August 21. Competition points scored so far are:—
