BUOYANT REVENUE
ADVANCES IN NATIONAL INCOME British Official Wireless RUGBY, July 13. The Exchequer returns continue to reflect the satisfactory state of the national finances. The total ordinary revenue to date amounts to £159,037,272 compared with £149,272,026 at the corresponding date last year. Advances are shown under all main headings. Inland revenue yield to which income tax con. tributes £20,276,000, and estate duty £26,130.000, reached the total of £56,546,000 on July 10, compared with £51,095.000 and against £84,331000 which had been collected from customs and excise. The total ordinary expenditure amounted to £239,849,779, compared with £226,268,212 at the corresponding date last year. The London County Council has approved a proposal to construct five more open air swimming baths in various parts of London at a cost of £155,000.
