The Washington correspondent of “The New York Times” says: President Roosevelt has decided not to attend Senator Robinson's funeral, because he is deeply apprehensive of dangerous developments in the Spanish conflict and the Sino-Japanese dispute. It is understood that confidential reports to the President presaged major developments in both crises within 48 hours or possibly sooner. The Washington correspondent of “The New York Times’ says: It is unofficially reported that the Chinese and Japanese military leaders in North China agreed to an armistice, after which the Japanese retired, pending negotiations designed to localise the controversy and avoid a general war.
