TRADE COMMISSIONER TO NEW ZEALAND United Pres* Association—By Eip.-ti, Tplep’n'), < rvrtpht (Received July 15, 6.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, July 15. The Federal Minister of Commerce (Dr Earle Page) announced to-day that Mr C. E. Critchley, M.8.E., the Australian Trade Commissioner in the Netherlands East Indies, had been appointed Australian Trade Commissioner in New Zealand. Mr Charles Edward Critchley, newly appointed trade commissioner for Australia in New Zealand occupied the position of assistant Australian Trade Commissioner in Canada for six years. He is an official of very wide experience in the Commonwealth. A Bachelor of Commerce of Melbourne University and an Associate of the Federal Institute of Accountants, hi.- work in the trade and tourist interests of Australia in Canada has always been favourably commented on in both commercial and Government circles, and his subsequent appointment as Australian Trade Commissioner in the Netherlands East Indies, stationed at Batavia, was considered a happy choice. Mr Critchley served for three and a half years with the Australian Imperial forces in France, and on his return to Australia he occupied senior positions in the Federal Taxation Department being associated with the Taxation Appeal Board, during which time he travelled extensively throughout the Commonwealth. Mr Critohley is expected with his wife and son, to take up residence in the Dominion within the next three months.
