HELPFUL HINTS
Electric light buttons can easily be seen in the night if they are painted over with a little luminous paint. This saves time, temper and bumps. For sunburn, warm strong milkless tea is an excellent dressing. Light satin shoes are best cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with spirits of wine. Be careful not to rub across the fabric, but only in the direction of the weave. When loose covers for chairs, etc., are being made, boll the piping cord before using. This little precaution prevents unsightly puckers after the covers are washed. To remove fly-specks, use spirits of wine with a camelhair brush. Eucalyptus extract, lightly rubbed on white kid shoes, will effectively remove stains. Do not store cake and biscuits together. The biscuits absorb the moisture, causing them to become soft, while the cakes become stale. Your husband will find the life of his razor-blades trebled if he keeps them in a little olive oil between shaves. To remove the odour of stale tobacco from a room, place a lump of crystal ammonia in a jar with three or four drops of lavender. Add a few tablespoonsful of boiling water and leave the jar uncovered in the room. Sugar may take the place of soda when cooking green vegetables.
