WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
WILLOWBRIDGE The monthly meeting of the Willowbridge Women’s Institute was held in the hall yesterday, Mrs W. J. Fletcher presiding over a good attendance. The motto for the day was: “A true friend is one who walks in when everyone else walks out.” The roll call, “A sponge sandwich filling,” brought forth some good recipes. A very’ interesting and instructive demonstration was given by Mrs Sutherland of Italian quilting. The talk was keenly followed by the members and the speaker was accorded a vote of thanks on the motion of Miss Jean Hollamby. Good business was done at a “bring and buy” table. The competitions resulted as follows: Specimen bloom, Mrs W. Smith 1. Miss A. Faulkner 2, Mrs W. Richmond 3; covered coat hanger, Miss A. Faulkner 1, Mrs W. Smith 2, Mrs S. J. Richmond 3; three largest parsnips. Miss A. Faulkner 1, Mrs W. Smith 2; ginger bread, Mrs S. J. Richmond 1, Mrs W. Smith 2, Mrs W. T. Richmond 3. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames W. T. Richmond and S. J. Richmond.
