ENTRIES FOR SATURDAY The following entries have been received for the Waimate Hunt Club’s annual point-to-point steeplechase meeting to be held at Crouch on Saturday next:— Heavy-weight—Erin’s Royal, Royal Raid, Richard, Jason, The Saint. Light-weight—Sir Beresford, Waikari, Hot Tea, Tlie Joker, Golden Glow. Field Hunters’ Trial—Red Peter, Doctor, Tip Toes, McDuff, Reform, Black Beauty. RUGBY OFFICIALS FOR SATURDAY The following are the officials for Saturday’s Rugby matches:— Senior.—South Canterbury v. Waimate on No. 2 ground, at 3 p.m.; referee, Mr J. K. Clark Junior.—Southern v. Huimai, No. 2 ground at 1.30. referee Mr L. Smith; Maklkihi v. Old Boys, No. 3 ground, at I. referee Mr J. Flaherty. Third grade.—High School A v. Old Boys at the School ground at 1.30 p.m., referee, Mr G. Anderson; High School B v. Primary, at 3.30 to-day, referee Mr J. L. Menzies. PERSONAL Miss P. Kendall, of “Pinegrove.” Irwell, has returned from a holiday spent in Waimate. The death occurred in Christchurch on Tuesday of Mr George S. Meredith, brother of Messrs E. J. Meredith (Morven) and H. H. Meredith (Arno). Mr F. Middleton Edwards and Mr Peter Griffin, of Blenheim, who have been on a motor tour of the South Island, spent a few days with Mr and Mrs G. Kllworth, Shearman Street, prior to returning north. Mr John L. Partridge, who was on the Ashburton staff of the Bank of New Zealand for two years, and who was transferred to Waimate two months ago, has received word of his transfer, on promotion, to the Omakau branch. Central Otago. The engagement is announced ot Richard Colin, eldest son of Mr and Mrs R. C. Thornton, of Green Island (late of Studholme Junction), and Joan Agnes Staples, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs T. L. Wood, Waimate.
