WOMEN’S DIVISION
PLEASANT POINT BRANCH At the monthly meeting of the Pleasant Point Wo: n’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs Crombie presided over a good attendance and extended a welcome to members of the Kakahu Branch. A letter was received from the secretary of the market committee thanking those who supplied goods to the market. Miss Lyon gave a report on the market committee held last Friday.
Mrs Chapman president of the Kakahu Division then took charge of the meeting. She was sorry they could not put on the play as one cf the party was unable to get over. She then asked her daughter Jean to give a demonstration of making rucked cushions. She also demonstrated the making of wood fibre flowers which was closely followed by the members. Miss Maxwell gave a talk on her trip to the Lakes which was most interesting. Mrs Cartwright moved a vote of thanks to Miss Chapman and Miss Maxwell, which was carried. Members of the Farmers’ Union were entertained at supper, which was handed round by Mesdames Ley and Kingston.
The competitions resulted as follows: Best bloom: Mrs Mcllwri'*!; 1, Mrs Ley 2. Best 3 parsnips: Mrs Mcllwrick 1, Miss Lyon 2. Date and nut loaf: Miss Lyon 1, Miss Lilies Crombie 2.
