LABOUR AND LOVE

To the Editor of “ The Timaru Herald ” Sir,—l am sure everyone who reads Mr Paterson’s letters in your journal embracing subjects from here to the hereafter, enjoys the fun. His latest one on Mr Savage is a “peach”. So Labour is inspired by Love. So, So! We see Love pouring out of every pore of Mr Semple’s sacred skin. We see Love in the way Labour turns the other cheek under the lash of criticism. We see it in the supreme sacrifice of self that three Labour Ministers are making in literally tearing themselves away from their homes and their kith and kin to attend the Coronation. We saw it in the lambasting loving Labour launched on the other side when only two Ministers of the then Government would leave their homes—one for King George V’s. jubilee festivities and the other to see if he could sell an extra chop of mutton to the British meateater. Love! Yes, it’s wonderful. Love of country is now drawing three loving Labour Ministers (and three retinues) to the Homeland. No such wonderful Love was displayed by the former Government. Only two Ministers would go. And does Mr Paterson remember what was said by loving Labour (including the Rev. Clyde Carr), when two former Ministers (not three), went Home?—l am, etc., LOVE SICK. Timaru, March 17.
