DATE OF TIMARU WOOL SALES
To the Editor ot “The Timaru Herald. Sir,—In a recent issue of your journal reference was made to the opinion expressed by Mr Talbot at the last meeting of the Agricultural and Pastorial Association in regard to the Timaru wool sales roster. I feel that either the Woolbrokers or Woolbuyers’ Association would be only too pleased to hand to Mr Talbot a copy of the season’s roster and if he, whilst doing full justice to the claims of other woolselling centres, can suggest a roster more suitable to Timaru than as at present arranged, his views would be fully appreciated. There are two points that well-wishers of the Timaru woolgrowers would be well advised to bear in mind, namely, that Timaru is the smallest woolselling centre in New Zealand, and subsequent to this date last year a total of 207,948 bales of wool (nearly one-third of the total New Zealand clip), were sold at different auctions in New Zealand. It will thus be realised that though Timaru growers may imagine that they are harshly treated in having to bold say 18,000 to 20,000 bales of wool until the middle of March, it must be admitted that those sellers in other centres who still have collectively approximately 200,000 bales to offer after the date of our sale, have much greater cause for complaint. I am, etc., INTERESTED. Timaru, March 13
