Ltd., assembled to express good wishes for the future of Mr P. R. Callanan, who had resigned in order to join the Post and Telegraph Department at Geraldine. The manager, Mr A. G. Brown, paid a warm tribute to Mr Callanan’s services during the 14 months he had been with the firm, remarking that, judging by his work while with the C.F.C.A., he would make good progress as a postal officer. In calling on Mr W. J. Harris to make the presentation of a wristlet watch and a pair of leather gloves to Mr Callanan. on behalf of the staff, MiBrown wished Mr Callanan every success in his new sphere. Mr W. J. Harris (accountant) cordially endorsed Mr Brown’s remarks, Mr Callanan suitably acknowledging the gift and good wishes. The Mayor (Mr B. R. Macdonald) is a- delegate to the annual conference of the Municipal Association of New Zealand, which is being held at Timaru. WAIHI REBEKAH LODGE Sis. N. Beech. N.G., presided at the usual meeting of Waihi Rebekah Lodge. Three proposals for membership were received. The second nomination for officers was received as follows: N.G., Sis. E. Fifield; V.G., Sis. M. Barrett; secretary, Sis. Mena Barrett; treasurer, Sis. E. Patrick. The Geraldine District Golf Club's official opening will be held next Saturday.
