FALL OF COAL
TWO MINERS’ KILLED By fpipcratih Hfpr* Association INVERCARGILL, March 3. A double mining fatality occurred at the Linton coal mine, Ohai, shortly after 11 o'clock this mdrning, when two experienced miners, Peter Johnstone (aged 50), married, with ten children, one of whom is married, and Thomas Thomsen (about 38), married, with one child, lost their lives, through a heavy fall of coal. The bodies were recovered half an hour later, but it was evident that both had been killed instantly. The inspector of the Mines Department, Mr J. Hughes, had a few minutes before the fall passed through the working.
