HEALTH STAMPS
RETURN FROM LOCAL SALES Health stamp sales for the period November - to December 23, approximately half the term of the campaign, were much greater this year than for the whole campaign last summer. The figures so far are £4B/9/- and the total realisation from last year’s effort was £3l/11/10. Reporting on the progress of the campaign, a Post Office official stated on Saturday that £4l/10/- of this year’s amount had been raised by sales of stamps and £6/16/9 by donations. Half of the return from sales was realised directly by the efforts of canvassers. Last year the first day covers were on sale. The returns for the year were made up of £2B/2/6 from sales, £2/6/8 from covers and £l/10/- by gifts of money. Last year the fund benefited to the extent of £l6/14/5 and this year there was at present a profit of £27/11/9. An indication of the increase in sales throughout the period is afforded by the fact that £l3/10/- was raised in the first three weeks of December, while the return for that period last summer was 12/-. Recent donations were £1 from the Winchester Women’s Institute and £5/6/9 from the local Toe H.
