The introduction of a five-day we°k for its officers, involving the closing of the Town Hall offices on Saturday mornings, was approved by the Auckland City Council. This will involve the stai.' working an additional halfhour from 4.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on other working days. It was agreed that it would not be possible to close the central library on Saturdays, and it was decided that the position there be further considered by the Library Committee. In view of the fact that. 24 oTi s are required to control traffic on Saturday mornings, it was decided to appoint four additional officers so I that members of the traffic staff may Ibe given a five-dav week.
